Les radioamateurs utilisent aussi l'altitude et la position du Kalmit. L'association locale de Neustadt de l'Union des Radioamateurs en Télécommunication et en Poste a établi un relais de radio sur le sommet, qui a été approuvé le 30 novembre 1971 par une autorité précédente de l'actuelle Bundesnetzagentur et qui est depuis exploité par les radioamateurs. Le relais DBØXK émet sur la fréquence de sortie de 145,700 MHz. La fréquence d'entrée est de 145,100 MHz. Le relais est situé dans la tour à côté de la maison Kalmithaus.
