Amateur radio operators also utilize the height and location of the Kalmit. The local chapter Neustadt of the Association of Amateur Radio Operators in Telecommunications and Post established a relay station at the summit, which was approved on November 30, 1971, by a predecessor authority of today's Federal Network Agency and has since been operated by amateur radio operators. The relay DBØXK can be heard on the output frequency of 145.700 MHz. The input frequency is at 145.100 MHz. The relay is housed in the tower next to the Kalmit house.
