Le Gymnasium Rabanus-Maurus est un établissement d'enseignement des langues anciennes, ce qui signifie que le latin est enseigné comme première langue étrangère en parallèle avec l'anglais comme seconde langue étrangère. À partir du niveau secondaire I, trois langues sont obligatoires. Le Gymnasium met l'accent dans sa formation sur les domaines linguistique, musical et scientifique. L'accent linguistique n'est pas limité aux langues anciennes – par exemple, il existe des contacts d'échange de longue date avec la France, l'Italie, les Pays-Bas, l'Angleterre, la Chine, la Pologne et les États-Unis.
