Avantis, entièrement Avantis Parc Européen des Sciences et des Affaires, est un parc d'entreprises 'transfrontalier' à la frontière des communes de Heerlen et d'Aix-la-Chapelle. Sur le site, environ 40 hectares sont disponibles pour différentes entreprises.
À la fin des années 90 du XXe siècle, les communes de Heerlen et d'Aix-la-Chapelle ont conclu un partenariat pour réaliser des plans pour une zone d'activités qui se situerait à la fois sur le territoire néerlandais et allemand. L'emplacement le plus approprié pour ce projet était une zone agricole ouverte près du village de Bocholtz, à proximité de l'intersection des routes A4, A76, N281 et de la Ceinture Parkstad Limburg. À partir de l'année 2001, le site a été aménagé de manière à ce que des entreprises puissent s'y installer, bien que seulement pour la moitié du plan complet.
