Le principal client du coke produit ici est l'aciérie ThyssenKrupp voisine. Depuis mai 2020, la KBS a fusionné avec ThyssenKrupp. Ainsi, ThyssenKrupp est depuis lors propriétaire et exploitant de l'usine de cokéification de Schwelgern.
