Le 3 août 2000, la première pierre a été posée et le 13 septembre, la fête de la charpente a été célébrée ; l'inauguration de la salle a eu lieu le 7 janvier 2001.
L'initiateur était Marc Girardelli, quadruple champion du monde de ski et quintuple vainqueur du classement général de la Coupe du Monde de ski. La salle offre des emplois à environ 100 employés. Le volume d'investissement de la société d'exploitation, qui fonctionne sous la dénomination de GmbH & Co. KG, s'élevait à 50 millions d'euros.
