La ruine du portail de la Ludgerusburg avec ses ouvrages fortifiés date de la deuxième moitié du XVIIe siècle. La Ludgerusburg a été construite sous le prince-évêque Christoph Bernhard von Galen, mais n'a jamais été achevée et a été démolie après la mort de l'évêque. La ruine du portail présente des niches fermées en arc mixte sur les côtés et des meurtrières en partie. L'ensemble historique constitue un accès au parc municipal de Coesfeld. Il est accessible depuis le parc dans la direction de l'avenue Kulturallee Osterwicker Straße ou depuis le trottoir de l'avenue Kulturallee.
