La Oelse est une rivière dans le district d'Oder-Spree et fait partie du parc naturel de Schlaubetal. Le nom Oelse ou également Ölse fait référence à l'ancien sorabe ol'ša pour aulne, donc c'est un ruisseau d'aulnes. Dans de vieux documents, on trouve en 1336 Osora, en vénédique Wolscha, sur les cartes de Schenks, elle apparaît comme la rivière Schneeberger. Un document de la ville de Beeskow la désigne en 1344 également comme daz Vliez zer Olsen.
