Le village de Wendischbrome, situé dans l'Altmärk, est un village en forme de triangle qui se trouve à l'est du cours supérieur de l'Ohre. La localité la plus proche est Benitz en Basse-Saxe, à environ un kilomètre au sud-ouest. Le Brome, qui donne son nom au village, se trouve à deux kilomètres au sud. Le lieu le plus proche en Saxe-Anhalt est Nettgau, qui se situe à trois kilomètres au nord. Près de Wendischbrome se trouvent les zones protégées « Ohreaue » et « Ohreaue près d'Altendorf et de Brome ».
Wendischbrome a été fondé en tant que colonie wend, alors que les colons allemands de l'époque se concentraient principalement à Brome et à Altendorf. Environ entre 1420 et 1535, Wendischbrome a été abandonné avant d'être reconstruit sous la forme d'un village en rond.
