Fondée en 1957, elle s’étend sur 5 hectares et abrite 500 animaux de 100 espèces ainsi que certains types de races domestiques.
Le zoo de Görlitz a été fondé en 1957 à l’initiative du maire de Görlitz, Bruno Gleißberg, et du directeur des jardins, Henry Kraft, sur le terrain privé du propriétaire de l’usine, Richard Raupach, qui a été donné au public de Görlitz après 1945.
