L'Université de Rhein-Waal est une haute école spécialisée fondée en 2009. Elle a été ouverte pour le semestre d'hiver 2009/10 et devait initialement s'appeler Haute École du Bas-Rhin du Nord. L'université a son siège principal à Kleve ⊙ et un deuxième campus à Kamp-Lintfort ⊙.
Le fleuve allemand Rhin et le fleuve néerlandais Waal sont les noms de l'université. Les zones entre ces deux rivières se sont réunies pour former l'Euregio Rhin-Waal. L'Université de Rhein-Waal fait partie de cette association.
