L’abbaye de Rottenmünster, près de Rottweil, était une abbaye du Saint-Empire romain germanique.
Peu après 1220, les femmes de l’ermitage des femmes de Hochmauren fondèrent un monastère à Rottenmünster. Avec l’aide de l’abbé de Salem, ils rejoignirent l’Ordre cistercien. Le monastère fut placé sous la protection du pape en 1225 et sous la protection de l’empereur en 1237. La ville impériale de Rottweil a dû mettre en pratique cette protection.
