Le tribunal d’instance de Passau est un tribunal de droit commun, ainsi que l’un des 73 tribunaux d’instance de Bavière. Le tribunal d’instance est situé dans deux bâtiments à Schustergasse et Heilig-Geist-Gasse.
Après la création du tribunal d’instance de Passau, il a été hébergé dans l’ancienne résidence avec le tribunal régional de Passau et le ministère public. En 1905, le tribunal d’instance s’installe au Herberstein-Palais à Schustergasse. En 1987, l’ancienne remise à calèches du prince-évêque à la Heilig-Geist-Gasse a également été acquise et le tribunal d’enregistrement y a été déplacé au début des années 1990.
