L'Isenberg est une colline entre Velbert-Nierenhof et Hattingen. On peut gravir la colline par le Balkhauser Weg depuis le sud-ouest (depuis Nierenhof, longueur 1,3 km et 50 mètres de dénivelé) ou depuis le nord-est (depuis la vallée de la rivière Ruhr, longueur 1,2 km et 90 mètres de dénivelé). Le véritable sommet est plus haut et est marqué par une ruine de château. Il y a aussi un parc d'escalade au sommet de la colline.
