Grand Tabarz était la désignation officielle pour le noyau historique oriental de Tabarz, maintenant Bad Tabarz, jusqu'à la fusion des deux quartiers Kleintabarz et Großtabarz en une seule entité. Grand Tabarz se trouve à environ un kilomètre à l'est de l'emplacement historique de Cabarz, qui a également été intégré dans l'actuelle commune de Tabarz. L'altitude de l'endroit est de 400 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer.
