L’ancien hôtel de ville de la ville de Haltern am See a été construit entre 1575 et 1577 sur le côté nord de la place du marché avec des pignons Renaissance.
Après des dommages considérables causés par la dernière guerre mondiale, il a été reconstruit sous une forme simplifiée de 1948 à 1952.
En 1997/1998, il a été entièrement rénové pour la première fois après cette reconstruction. Aujourd’hui, il existe sous la forme d’un bâtiment de deux étages en position d’avant-toit, le rez-de-chaussée s’ouvrant sur une tonnelle de quatre arcades en arc brisé.
