Lors de son voyage de Bruxelles à Rome en 1655, la reine Christine de Suède séjourna deux jours à l'abbaye Saint-Michel de Siegburg, bien que la présence des femmes soit interdite par les règles de saint Benoît. L'abbaye a été lourdement endommagée pendant la guerre de 30 ans. La reine fut témoin du projet de reconstruction de l'abbé Johan von Bock.
