Le Höhlensee est un petit lac situé dans une carrière près du quartier Eberstadt de Buchen, dans le district Neckar-Odenwald du Bade-Wurtemberg, en face de l’entrée de la grotte des stalactites d’Eberstadter.
Le lac se trouve naturellement dans le terrain à bâtir, dans la zone frontalière de la sous-zone de Buchener Platte au nord et de la sous-zone de Seckach-Kirnau-Platten au sud. Il se trouve à environ 1,3 km à l’ouest-nord-ouest du centre du village d’Eberstadt, à environ 330 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer, dans le Won Geißbaum, dans une partie orientale de la carrière de calcaire coquillier locale, dans laquelle aucune exploitation minière n’a lieu aujourd’hui après la découverte de la grotte de stalactites.
