La bataille d'Emporion fut l'une des batailles de la révolte de 197 av. J.-C. des peuples ibériques contre la domination romaine au IIe siècle av. J.-C.
La victoire de la république romaine sur Carthage lors de la deuxième guerre punique laissa l'Hispanie entre les mains romaines. La transformation du territoire en province provoqua d'importants changements administratifs et fiscaux, et l'imposition du stipendium ne fut pas acceptée par les tribus locales qui jouissaient encore d'une certaine structure politique et capacité de réaction, de sorte qu'en 197 av. J.-C., à peine la deuxième guerre macédonienne terminée, une grande révolte éclata dans toute la zone conquise en Hispanie à cause du désossage républicain.
