La ligne 8 est l'une des treize lignes du réseau du métro de Madrid, ouverte pour la première fois en 1982, puis totalement remaniée en 1998. Elle dessert plusieurs quartiers de Madrid et son aéroport international.La première version de la ligne 8 entre en service commercial le 9 juin 1982. Son trajet nord-sud va de Fuencarral à Nuevos Ministerios. Il est prolongé d'une station au sud, jusqu'à Avenida de América, le 23 décembre 1986.
