Dressée, face à l’hôtel des consuls depuis plus de 700 ans, l’église Saint Pierre confère à Gourdon son profil caractéristique et donne au loin l’impression d’une forteresse. Sa façade flanquée de 2 tours-clocher a été complétée pendant les guerres de religion par des mâchicoulis .Cette église de style gothique méridional très ouvragée à l'intérieur renferme de véritables trésors : Orgue de tribune (fin XVIIIe -XIXe S.), Rosace du portail principal et grande verrière du chevet (XIVe S.), retables...Le Choeur est orné d’un ensemble baroque du XVIIe composé de tableaux, en bois peint et sculpté oeuvre des Tournié, sculpteurs Gourdonnais dont la renommée rayonna bien au-delà de la cité.
