Chatelay est une commune française située dans le département du Jura en région Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.La commune de Chatelay se situe dans l'entité historique et géographique dite Pays du Val d'Amour, large plaine alluviale constituée par la rivière la Loue. Le terroir, plan et fertile, est partagé entre des champs ouverts cultivés majoritairement en plantes fourragères et oléagineuses, et la forêt de Chaux, deuxième plus vaste de France en feuillus.
