Vincennes est une commune située dans le département du Val-de-Marne en région Île-de-France, à l'est de Paris.
Elle a emprunté son nom au bois de Vincennes situé au sud de la ville, devenu propriété de la mairie de Paris. Vincennes est célèbre pour son château, longtemps demeure royale. C'est la deuxième commune la plus densément peuplée de France derrière Levallois-Perret. Depuis 2011, la commune a lancé un grand plan de réaménagement urbain, se nommant « projet de ville », visant différents quartiers de la ville.
