Saint-Claude est une commune française, sous-préfecture du département du Jura, en région Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Située au cœur du massif du Jura, elle fait partie de la région culturelle et historique de Franche-Comté.Saint-Claude comptait 8 985 habitants en 2019, ce qui en fait la troisième commune la plus peuplée du département. Ses habitants sont appelés les Sanclaudiens. Son unité urbaine rassemblait 9 717 habitants en 2018 et son aire d'attraction comptait 19 861 habitants. Elle est au centre d'une intercommunalité, la communauté de communes Haut-Jura Saint-Claude, comprenant 22 communes et 20 262 habitants en 2018.
