Morbier est une commune française située dans le département du Jura en région Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Elle fait partie de la région culturelle et historique de Franche-Comté.La commune tient probablement son nom d'un ancien bief descendant du lieu-dit « la Carronnée » au centre du village et qui se serait jadis tari. Elle est réputée pour son fromage homonyme , son domaine de ski nordique et son horlogerie. En effet, vers 1660, les frères Mayet fabriquent leurs premières horloges dans ce village et au XIXe siècle, Morbier est avec Morez la capitale de l’horloge comtoise.
