Au pied de la tour se dresse une statue de Blaise Pascal, commémorant les expériences sur la pression atmosphérique, bien qu'il y ait débat quant à savoir si celles-ci ont été réalisées ici ou dans l'église Saint-Jacques-du-Haut-Pas.
La tour a inspiré Alexandre Dumas pour écrire la pièce La tour Saint-Jacques-la-boucherie en 1856.
