Vauréal est une des treize communes de la communauté d'agglomération de Cergy-Pontoise, dans le département français du Val-d'Oise. Créée sous l'impulsion de l'État, la ville nouvelle de Cergy-Pontoise a vu le jour en 1971 et marqué le véritable point de départ du développement de Vauréal. Petit village de 800 âmes au début des années 1980, la commune comptait 16 456 habitants appelés les Vauréaliens au dernier recensement de 2019.
