L'Odet est un fleuve côtier breton long de 62,7 km qui prend sa source dans les montagnes Noires à Saint-Goazec, au lieu-dit Yeun-ar-Vouster, et aboutit dans l'Atlantique entre Sainte-Marine et Bénodet.Le nom Odet dérive de od, racine hydronymique générique. L'Odet donne son nom à la commune de Briec-de-l'Odet et donna son nom révolutionnaire, autant qu'éphémère, à Quimper : Montagne-sur-Odet. Il se retrouve aussi dans le nom d'une célèbre marque de papier à rouler, OCB, acronyme de Odet-Cascadec-Bolloré. À l'époque moderne, ce fleuve côtier était souvent dénommé "Rivière de Bénaudet"'.
