L’abbaye de Bourgueil, plus précisément l’abbaye Saint-Pierre de Bourgueil-en-Vallée, est une abbaye bénédictine, qui adopte la réforme de Saint-Maur en 1630. Elle est située à Bourgueil, autrefois Burgolium, dans le pays du Bourgueillois, dépendant avant 1790 de l’élection de Saumur, du siège royal de Chinon et du diocèse d'Angers, donc de l'Anjou historique. Mais de nos jours Bourgueil est en Indre-et-Loire. Cette importante abbaye est fondée en 990 par Emma, fille de Thibaud le Tricheur, comtesse de Blois et duchesse d’Aquitaine.
