Bibracte était la capitale du peuple celte des Éduens, développée surtout au Ier siècle av. J.-C. Centre névralgique du pouvoir de l'aristocratie éduenne, c'était aussi un important lieu d'artisanat et de commerces où se côtoyaient mineurs, forgerons et frappeurs de monnaies, sur une superficie de près de 135 hectares.
