Le célèbre château du marquis de Sade est situé à Lacoste.
En 1771, le marquis s’enfuit de Paris pour échapper aux scandales créés par son écriture érotique et son comportement bizarre (trop libéral pour l’époque).
Il vint à Lacoste et se réfugia dans le château qui appartenait à son grand-père. Cet immense château du 11ème siècle, en partie en ruines, appartenait à un professeur qui le restaure depuis plus de 30 ans. Aujourd’hui, le château appartient à M. Pierre Cardin, le célèbre styliste designer.
