Installé dans l’aile sud de l’ancienne abbaye Bénédictine qui accueille également la Bibliothèque bénédictine du 18ème siècle, cet établissement a pour vocation la mise en valeur du patrimoine départemental d’art sacré, à travers les dépôts des communes et du département : pièces d’orfèvrerie (calices, croix...) mais aussi sculptures, objets de dévotion populaire (cires habillées, reliquaires). Une salle du musée accueille des expositions temporaires.
