Lors de l'opération Dynamo (du 25 mai au 4 juin 1940), environ 345 000 militaires ont été évacués de la côte de Malo, Leffrinckoucke, Bray-Dunes vers l'Angleterre. Une opération gigantesque à laquelle près de 1000 bateaux ont participé. Il pleuvait des bombardements allemands et de nombreux bateaux n'ont pas réussi à atteindre le port.
À marée basse, nous voyons ici l'épave du Crested Eagle.
