Description

Le hameau de Saint-Léon est un écart de la commune de Walscheid. Les points à ne pas manquer dans ce hameau sont la chapelle Saint-Léon et la grotte du même nom. Cette dernière a une profondeur de 32 mètres, une largeur de 24 mètres et une hauteur de 8 mètres. Sur une paroi du rocher à gauche de l’entrée est fixée une plaque commémorative, rappelant la mémoire du Pape Saint Léon IX qui se serait souvent retiré ici. Dès sa jeunesse, il serait venu prier et se recueillir dans cette cathédrale de la nature.
