L'église est curieusement isolée du village, et proche de l'agglomération de Saint-Pierre-Bois. A l'angle droit, côté est, une pierre du chaînage porte la date de 1719. Cette année-là, l'ancienne chapelle est agrandie. En 1784, sur le même emplacement, est construite l'église actuelle. L'intérieur du sanctuaire rappelle qu'il est placé sous la protection de Saint Jacques le Majeur décapité en l'an 44 par Hérode Agrippa.
