L'hôtel est consacré à l'écrivain Stendhal, en hommage à son roman Lucien Leuwen dont la première partie de l'histoire se déroule dans la ville. Idéalement placé dans le centre-ville de Nancy, à trois minutes à pied de la Place Stanislas, le bâtiment historique est adossé à la cathédrale.
La décoration s'organisera autour de la devise de Stendhal, toute en crescendo, Visse, Scrisse, Amo, c'est à dire, Il vécut, il écrivit, il aima.
