La Chapelle a été érigée sur l’ancienne Fosse des Trépassés, l’une des ardoisières les plus importantes de la ville au XVIIIe siècle. A remarquer sur la toiture en ardoise, se dessine une croix. Face à cette chapelle, vous découvrirez ce que l’on appelle un verdeau, c’est-à-dire un amoncellement de débris ardoisiers inexploitables, qui forme comme un genre de terril. Mais attention... Ne les appelez pas des terrils. Dans le jargon des ardoisiers, ces collines artificielles faites par accumulation de déchets d’ardoises sont bien des verdeaux. A noter : La Chapelle se situe rue Sainte-Barbe, face à la rue des jardiniers.
