L'église paroissiale d'Eguelshardt, bâtie de pierres de taille de grès rose, s'élève sur une légère colline visible depuis la route départementale reliant Bitche à Niederbronn-les-Bains.
Dédiée à l'Exaltation de la Sainte-Croix, elle a été construite entre 1854 et 1858 sur les plans de l'architecte messin Charles Gautiez, par l'entrepreneur Jean-Dominique Bourguignon de Landroff. Elle remplace une chapelle se trouvant dans le cimetière et devenue insuffisante pour la population.
Elle est de style basilical néogothique, avec transept et chœur polygonal. Sous son clocher, mesurant fièrement vingt-huit mètres, abritant trois cloches d'un poids total de 963 kilos, se trouve la plaque de consécration, rédigée en latin.
