Le sentier des bunkers est une réalisation exemplaire qui perpétue le devoir de mémoire d'une époque tourmentée: celle de la Première Guerre mondiale dans le massif du Donon. En août 1914, de violents combats se sont déroulés à Plaine, à St-Blaise-la-Roche, au petit Donon : une guerre de mouvement qui visait à s'assurer les positions stratégiques. Les cimetières militaires de Plaine, du Donon, de Grendelbruch ou encore de la Chapelotte, témoignent de la dureté de ces combats.
