Caistor est un bourg du Lincolnshire ayant le statut de paroisse civile. Elle se trouve à la lisière nord-ouest des Wolds du Lincolnshire, le long de la Viking Way, à proximité de l'A46 entre Lincoln et Grimsby, et de l'échangeur de l'A46, de l'A1084, de l'A1173 et de la B1225.
Comme son nom le suggère, elle a été édifiée à l'emplacement d'un ancien camp romain . Le suffixe anglo-saxon ceaster vient du latin castrum signifiant camp ou ville fortifiée. Le nom de la ville est retranscrit par Castre dans le Domesday Book.
