Norwich est la capitale administrative du comté de Norfolk en Angleterre. Elle a le statut de Cité et abrite l'University of East Anglia . Établie sur les deux rives de la rivière Wensum et parée des flèches et tours de trente-deux églises médiévales, Norwich est une grande ville touristique de l'East Anglia.
Les Romains avaient leur capitale régionale à Venta Icenorum sur les rives de la rivière Tas, au sud de l'actuelle église St Edmund Caistor, à environ 5 miles au sud de Norwich. Le site est tombé en désuétude, vers 450, avant l'arrivée des Anglo-Saxons qui fondent de la ville de Northwic sur son site actuel et un établissement secondaire à Thorpe.
