Newcastle-under-Lyme est une ville d'Angleterre, dans le Staffordshire, et le chef-lieu du borough de Newcastle-under-Lyme. sa population est de 73 944 habitants .
Newcastle-under-Lyme se constitua autour d'un «château neuf» construit au XIIe siècle pour remplacer celui de Chesterton, Staffordshire-Chesterton, quelques kilomètres plus au nord. Lyme fait référence au ruisseau de Lyme Brook ou à la Forest of Lyme, forêt de tilleuls qui couvrait la région au Moyen Âge.
