Knighton est une ville de taille moyenne à l'est du Pays de Galles, dans le comté administratif et le comté cérémoniel de Powys. La ville compte 3 901 habitants. Le nom gallois, Tref-y-clawdd, signifie littéralement "ville de la digue". Se référant à la digue d'Offa.
Powys est situé sur l'itinéraire du LAW Offa's Dyke Path. De plus, c'est également le point de départ d'un autre grand itinéraire à travers le Pays de Galles, le Glyndwr's Way. Knighton - Weststreet - abrite également le Centre d'Offa's Dyke, un espace d'exposition du Offa's Dyke Path. De plus, le bureau de l'office de tourisme s'y trouve également.
