La gare de Pontypool et New Inn est située au sud-est du centre-ville de Pontypool, entre la ville et le quartier de New Inn, au Pays de Galles. La station s'appelait auparavant Pontypool Road jusqu'à ce qu'elle soit renommée simplement Pontypool en 1972, puis elle a pris le nom actuel en 1994.
Elle fait partie du système ferroviaire britannique, appartenant à Network Rail et est gérée par Transport for Wales, qui exploite tous les trains qui y passent. Elle se trouve sur la ligne des Welsh Marches de Newport à Crewe.
