La Medway, rivière dont le cours se situe presque en totalité dans le comté de Kent, s'écoule sur 113 km depuis l'ouest du comté de Sussex jusqu'à son débouché dans l'estuaire de la Tamise.
Son bassin hydrographique, avec une superficie de 2 409 km2, est le plus important du sud de l'Angleterre. Une multitude de cours d'eau d'importance variable l'alimentent : ils drainent les Downs du Nord, le Weald et la forêt d'Ashdown.
