Le 3 juin 1966, un nouvel avion de ligne Hawker Siddeley Trident s'est écrasé lors d'un vol d'essai pré-livraison près du village de Felthorpe, dans le Norfolk, en Angleterre, tuant les quatre membres d'équipage. L'avion avait entamé un décrochage profond dont l'équipage n'a pas pu se remettre. C'était la première perte d'un appareil Trident.
L'avion impliqué était un Hawker Siddeley Trident 1C tri-réacteur, immatriculé G-ARPY, numéro de série 2126 ; qui était sur le point d'être livré à British European Airways.
