La Pannonie est une ancienne région de l'Europe centrale, limitée au nord par le Danube et située à cheval sur les actuelles Autriche, Hongrie, Slovénie, Croatie, nord-ouest de la Serbie et nord de la Bosnie-Herzégovine.
Les habitants les plus anciennement identifiés sont les Pannoniens, peuple indo-européen apparenté aux Illyriens et aux Vénètes, auxquels se joignent des Celtes et des Boïens au IVe siècle av. J.-C.
