Maulin, à 570 mètres, est le 272ème sommet le plus élevé d'Irlande selon l'échelle d'Arderin, cependant, étant en dessous de 600 m, il ne figure pas dans les échelles de Vandeleur-Lynam ou de Hewitt. Maulin se trouve dans la section nord-est des montagnes de Wicklow, à l'entrée de la vallée de Glensoulan ; la cascade de Powerscourt se trouve à sa base.
