C'est aussi une Nomenclature d'unités territoriales statistiques de premier niveau à l'échelle de l'Union européenne et une circonscription législative européenne.
Cette région englobe quatre des vingt régions du pays : le Latium, la Toscane, les Marches et l'Ombrie.
