Actuellement en chantier , elle accueillit une importante gare routière ainsi que le centre Émile-Hamilius , ensemble d'immeubles de bureaux des années 1970 ; démoli en 2015 pour laisser place, tout comme la place en elle même, au projet « Royal-Hamilius ».Le 27 septembre 2018, le nouveau parking Royal Hamilius ouvre ses portes en plein cœur de la capitale. Il offre 628 places de parking supplémentaires qui vont contribuer à résorber les problèmes de stationnement dans le centre-ville.
